How Do I Select a Qualified Provider?
Once a board certified Skintap dermatologist completes your consultation and provides insight as to what procedure best fits to address your needs, the Skintap team can then connect you with a board certified dermatologist in your area to complete the procedure. The board certified dermatologist that you will see is hand picked by those on our Medical Advisory Board.
What Are Dermal Fillers and Which is Right for Me?
Dermal fillers are both natural and synthetic. Your experienced board certified Skintap dermatologist will discuss the filler that best suits your needs. Hyaluronic acid, calcium dydroxylapatite, poly-l-lactic acid and Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) are all commonly found in dermal fillers. The most common of these is still hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic Acid is found in the following FDA approved fillers: Juvéderm XC, VOLUMA, VOLBELLA, VOLLURE, Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Defyne, and Belotero Balance.
The Process
Once at the office, often times numbing will be placed on the area that will be injected. The numbing cream takes about an hour to prove effective. After the hour, your injector will discuss how to best achieve your aesthetic goals and which exact type of filler is right for you. Each individual injector has preferences on which tools and the specific filler they will use to best meet your needs. It’s important to note that swelling and bruising are all common when receiving dermal fillers. It’s best to refrain from major activity immediately after this type of procedure. Resting and avoiding any high intensity activity are recommended for about a week after receiving dermal fillers.
How Long Can I Enjoy My New Look?
Dermal fillers tend to last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Lip fillers generally fade faster than other areas of fillers. As you continue to get cosmetic procedures, your dermatologist will adjust the amount of fillers needed for you to achieve the results you are looking for. It’s important to remember that hyaluronic acid fillers only temporarily last and are not permanent solutions like plastic surgery.
